怎样学习英语写作

题记：在给陈永川教授的email中，颜华菲教授就学生怎样学习英语写作提出了如下宝贵建议。 陈永川教授认为这是学习英语写作非常有效的方法，供同学们参考。

As we talked about how to improve the English writing skill, one of my friend, (who is a native American, but not a mathematician) had given me the following advice:

Find a well-written textbook, read a section (or a paragraph, a proof...) carefully until you understand the material. Then close the book and write it down in your own language. Afterward compare your writing with the original text. Do this for a couple of chapters.

My friend recommended the classical textbook on Number Theory by Hardy and Wright, "An Introduction to the Theory of Numbers ". I think some well-written journal articles will serve the purpose, too.
